Rev. Zach Lysdahl

My name is Zachary Thomas Lysdahl, but please call me Pastor Zach. A little over a year ago my wife, Alexandra (Alex), and I moved to Lebanon, Illinois. She is a licensed social worker and an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament. Last October she received a call from First United Presbyterian Church of Belleville, Illinois. She is happily serving the church as their Associate Pastor. We enjoy being in the area and are thrilled to soon, both, have pastoral positions in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Over the last month or so I have been interviewing with session and together we have been praying that God’s will be made clear. The process has taken time. Together, we wanted to make sure we fully understand God’s call upon the church and myself. And, now, it is with great joy that I get to join you all in your ministry in community of Collinsville.

Here are some facts about myself and my family.

  1. Alex and I have a puppy. Her name is Nala. She is a 14 month old Bernedoodle (Bernese Mountain dog mixed with a Standard Poodle). She’s black with some white markings, and gets fluffy in the winter. She loves people and other dogs.

  2. I am an avid cyclist, and I enjoy spending as much time outside as possible.

  3. I like reading books of theology and, on occasion, fiction too.

  4. Alex and I enjoying hiking, so when the weather is nice we like to explore the parks and trail systems in the area.

  5. I am what you would call a “second career pastor,” having spent time working in the business and non-profit worlds prior to seminary.

  6. I have three degrees: Bachelors of Business Administration, Biblical Studies degree, and a Master’s of Divinity.

  7. I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, about 45 minutes away from Lake Michigan.

  8. My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 118:5.

I pray the Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. Amen
